What It Does
Opens the Rhino modeling window inside Revit. Use it to access all Rhino 3D modeling tools without leaving Revit.
With the Rhino window open, you can:
- Model geometry using Rhino's full toolset
- Work with NURBS surfaces and curves
- Use Rhino commands and scripts
- Switch between Rhino and Revit views
How to Use
- Make sure the Start command has run (Rhino initialized)
- Click Rhino in the Core panel
- The Rhino window appears
- Model as you normally would in Rhino
- Click Rhino again to bring window to front if needed
Working Between Rhino and Revit
You can switch freely between Rhino and Revit:
- Model in Rhino: Use Rhino window for geometry creation
- Switch to Revit: Click anywhere in Revit to work there
- Back to Rhino: Click Rhino button to return
Troubleshooting
Rhino button is grayed out
What it means: Rhino runtime isn't ready yet
What to do:
- Click the Start button first
- Wait for initialization (2-5 seconds)
- Rhino button becomes available
- Click Rhino to open window
Rhino window doesn't appear
What to do:
- Check if window is hidden behind Revit
- Click Rhino button again to bring it forward
- Try Alt+Tab to switch to Rhino window
- Restart Revit if issue persists
Rhino window appears then crashes
What to do:
- Check Rhino plugins for conflicts
- Run Rhino standalone to verify stability
- Disable problematic plugins
- Restart Revit
Can't model in Rhino window
What to do:
- Click inside the Rhino window to focus it
- Verify Rhino license is valid
- Check that Rhino commands work in standalone mode
- Restart both Rhino and Revit if needed
